A hearty casserole combining ground beef, cabbage, and rice, baked to perfection with cheesy topping.

Ingredients

Meat and Onion

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion chopped

Rice

  • 1/2 cup brown rice

Sauces and Seasonings

  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp beef bouillon
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp dried dill
  • 3/4 cup water

Cabbage

  • 4 1/2 cup cabbage coarsely chopped

Cheese

  • 6 oz Swiss cheese shredded

Instructions 

  • Brown ground beef and chopped onion, season to taste.
  • Layer cabbage in greased 9x13 pan, sprinkle rice, then meat mixture.
  • Mix tomato sauce, bouillon, Worcestershire, sugar, dill, and water; pour over layers.
  • Bake covered at 350°F (175°C) for 1.5 hours, then sprinkle cheese and let melt.

Notes

Ensure rice is cooked through before baking for best texture.
