A flavorful and hearty dish combining tender chicken sausage, fresh broccoli, and orzo pasta in a savory broth, topped with Parmesan and parsley.

Ingredients

pasta

  • 2 cups orzo pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

meat

  • 1 pound chicken sausage, sliced

vegetables

  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

liquid

  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions 

  • Heat olive oil in a large pot. Cook sausage until browned, then add garlic and cook 1 minute.
  • Add broccoli and cook 2-3 minutes. Stir in orzo, broth, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring to boil.
  • Reduce heat, cover, and simmer 10-12 minutes until orzo is tender and liquid is absorbed.
  • Remove from heat, stir in Parmesan cheese, and garnish with parsley. Serve hot.

Notes

Feel free to add a squeeze of lemon for extra freshness.
