A delicious holiday side dish combining tender green beans in a creamy sauce topped with crispy fried onions for added crunch.

Ingredients

Green Beans

  • 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz can)
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cup crispy fried onions (for topping)
  • 0.25 tsp garlic powder
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 cup additional crispy fried onions for topping

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Blanch green beans for 5 minutes, then drain and rinse.
  • Mix cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Add green beans and cheese, stir well.
  • Transfer to a greased 9x13 inch dish. Top with 1/2 cup fried onions.
  • Bake for 25 minutes, then add remaining fried onions on top and bake for 10 more minutes until golden.
  • Let cool briefly before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding a dash of soy sauce or hot sauce to the mixture.
