Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 ball fresh pizza dough (about 12 oz, room temperature)
  • 1 cup fresh mozzarella (sliced or torn)
  • 2 large heirloom tomatoes (thinly sliced)
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves (whole or roughly torn)
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp balsamic glaze (store-bought or homemade)
  • to taste sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • for dusting flour (for work surface)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). Prepare baking surface or stone.
  • Roll out dough to 12x8 inches, transfer to parchment or pizza peel.
  • Brush with olive oil, sprinkle with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Arrange tomato slices, add mozzarella, bake 10-12 mins until golden.
  • Top with basil, drizzle with balsamic glaze and olive oil, serve warm.

Notes

Use ripe but firm tomatoes for the best flavor and texture.
