A wholesome and delicious cake combining oats, apples, and warm spices, perfect for a healthy treat.

Ingredients

Dry ingredients

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon nutmeg

Wet ingredients

  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 0.5 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 0.5 cup almond milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Add-ins

  • 2 cups diced apples (about 2 medium apples)
  • 0.25 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch pan.
  • Mix dry ingredients in a bowl.
  • Whisk wet ingredients in another bowl.
  • Combine wet and dry, then fold in apples and nuts.
  • Pour batter into pan and bake 30-35 minutes.

Notes

For extra flavor, top with a sprinkle of cinnamon or a dollop of yogurt before serving.
