A classic holiday side dish with tender green beans, creamy mushroom sauce, and crispy fried onions for added crunch.

Ingredients

Green Beans

  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz can)
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup crispy fried onions
  • to taste salt and pepper

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Blanch green beans in boiling water for 5 minutes, then drain and place in a bowl.
  • Mix mushroom soup, half the fried onions, milk, and cheese; combine with green beans. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Transfer to a greased baking dish and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Top with remaining fried onions and bake for 10 more minutes until golden.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a dash of garlic powder or paprika.
