Ingredients

Bread

  • 1 loaf bread, cubed
  • 1 cup celery, chopped
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 0.5 cup butter, melted
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon dried sage
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 cup dried cranberries or nuts (optional) (optional)

Instructions 

  • Combine bread, celery, and onion in a large bowl.
  • Mix melted butter, broth, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper in a separate bowl.
  • Pour broth mixture over bread mixture and stir well.
  • Fold in dried cranberries or nuts if using.
  • Transfer to slow cooker, cover, and cook on low for 4-6 hours.
  • Serve warm as a side dish.

Notes

For extra flavor, add herbs like parsley or rosemary.
